AFRICA’S OBJECTIVE.

VIEWS OF NATIONALIST ORGAN. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. . Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. CAPETOWN, May 17. The Nationalist organ “Oils Vaclerland,” referring to General Hertzog’s statement iii the Assembly on April 28, regarding secession, says there was no necessity to break the promise givon to the Labourites when the pact between the two parties was made, not to raise the secession issue for five years. The paper points out that the Nationalists’ Struggle has always been lor the realisation of the ideal of absolute sovereign' independence. It sees no reason to describe Britain as our greatest enemy, but does not see why she should be referred to as our best friend, a phrase which causes pain to thousands of to whom Britain remains the conqueror of our nationhood and our sovereign independence.

“Wo wish to regain ttiat independence,” the paper adds, “and we do hot propose hiding the purpose.”
