ACCIDENT AT THE URAL MINE.
■\ skkious accident occurred shortly after 2 o'clock yesterday in the Ural mine, la te Hand-and-Band, to a miner named Henry Fletcher. At the time of the accident Fletcher was working in the 80-feet lovcl. He was alarmed by a small piece of rock falling from the roof of the drive, and he was getting away back to a place of security when a massive rock, weighing about 1501bs, fell. It jammed his leg against the side of the drive, inflicting somo ugly bruises and cuts, besides which it caused a compound fracturo of the leg, between the knee and the ankle joint. He was at once extricated and taken to the hospital, where he was attended immediately by JDr Lethbridge. The wound on the leg was bleeding profusely, but this was soon stopped, and all that was possible under the circumstances was done to make him comfortable. Fletcher has a wife and several children dependent on him for support.
