OHINEMURI.
ME MACKiY AND THE NATIVES. [PER PIGEON EXPRESS.] {From Our Own Correspondent.) Monday, G p.m. Mr Mackay has had a meeting with the natives to-day. fie began by saying that he had interviewed the Government, and had full power to settle all matters affecting Ohinemuri. Considerable discussion ensued as to whether the land or the gold should be given up. It was put to the meeting, and dccidfd unanimously that the gold should be given up, and that the land should be placed in To Hira's hands, as trustee for the tribe. Onthe question being put as to whether there were any objectors, no reply was made. J< very hapu was represented at the meeting. Terms have yet to be arranged, but everything is going on very satisfactorily.
