CORRESPONDENCE.
THE HIGH SCHOOL AGAIN. To the Editor of the Thames Advertiser. Sib,—lf Mr Speight had confined his remarks to the little which he saw in my letter to reply to I would not have troubled you further, but as he has thought fit to make statements which are not correct, I will, with your permission, endeavour to set him right. Mr Speight would make me say that because the Board of Education cannot supply £30,000 or £40,000, therefore it is useless to put them in a position to supply a little. I have not said anything that could in any way be construed into such a statement, neither wa3l one of a committee of the Provincial Council that reported against a proposal for obtaining £10,000 out of the educational reserve known as the old Supreme Court House site, Auckland. This piece of ground cost the province of Auckland £25,000, and was made an education reserve by a vote of the Council during last session, which I understand has been since revoked by the Governor.-I am, &c., L. J. BA&nam.
