(Before W. Fjiaser, Esq,, R.M.) Appeais Against Bating of Mining Companies.—Appeals had been lodged by the following companies against the rating of the Borough Council :-Tookey, Imperial Grown, Caledonian, Golden Crown, Kuranui, United Pumping Association.—Mr Macdonald, who appeared for the companies, stated that it had been arranged to defer the hearing of the appeals till next Friday, Nov. 13. Judgments foe Piaintiff.-Li the following cases, judgments were recorded for the plaintiffs. They had been on the list last day, when defendants acknowleged the debts, but plaintiff had been detained in Auckland owing to there being no steamerJ. Foss v. T. Millett, £1 6s 4d; do v. 1). Tye, 16s; do v. J. Maher, £919s Id. J. B. Mason v. C. P. ConLEtT.-Claim £2103, on a dishonoured cheque.—Plaintiff deposed that the signature at the cheque was that of defendant. Judgment was given for plaintiff, with costs, 20s. C. Hackett v. H. Haywabd.—Claim £246s BJ.—Mr Campbell appeared for the plaintiff, and stated that defendant had filed a declaration of insolvency. The case was withdrawn. J. VY. Shaw v. J. Fabhecl. - Claim £4 ss. The case was adjourned till the 13th of November. Macdonaid and Miller y, J. Bakbe. —Claim £2 lis 2d. Judgment was confessed.
