In consequence of a requisition go the chairmm of the Highwiy Board of the. town of Onehuuga, signed by 28 ratepayers of the highway district of Onehunga, a public iiieetiact was held on Monday evening in the Choral Hall-for the purpose of considering the resolutions passed by the House of Representatives for abolishing the provinces. Mr Q. Oodlin occupied the chair. Mr Kastwood was the priucipil speaker, He moved That in the opinion of this meeting the proposals embodied in Mr Vogel's resolutions for abolishing the North Maud provinces, while confirming those of the South, are unjust and impolitic."—Mr Bilkey then proposed, as an amendment, "That the soonor provincialism was done away with the better." He considered Mr Vogel was a very clever rain, and that his resolutions would be beneficial to the country.—The original resolution Wits carried, together with the following "That the best thanks of the electors o£ Onehunga are duo to the Hon. George Miurice 0 Rorke for his services as their re are tentative in the (Joeeral Assembly held ak Wellingto:;''
