The new Burgess Roll for 1873-4 was laid on * the table of the City Council yesserday by the Town Clerk (a copy of which we have re- : ceived). The number of names now on the roll is 1,216, agreat nuinbsr of persons having been disqualified for nonpayment of their, rates before the 30th of June.—Gross. The members of the Dnnedin Fire Brigade met at the station-house on Saturday evening, for the purpose of presenting Nlr John Hughes, who has been appointed Superintendent of the Auckland Fire Brigade, with a testimonial and silver o ill.
