THEATRE ROYAL.
Mrs B. N. Jones took a benefit last nigbt at the Royal, and we regret, to .ay that only a middling house assenmled on the occasion. “ East Lynne ” was the piece announced first, but “ The Serpent on the Hearth ” was substituted for it in the bills. CMing, however, to one of the actor, refusing to perform, “ Rocambole” was substituted at the last moment, and was very well played indeed. Miss Laura Wiseman sang on the conclusion of the piece. s She first gave “Happy be tliy dreams,’! in a very sweet manner, which elicited an unruistakeable encore. She then gave “ Maggie’s Secret," and the actualty wanted another, so nicely was it sung, but the tax on the young lady would have been too much. Mr Jones came before the curtain on the conclusion of the songs and thanked those •who had attended, at the same time announcing that on Friday night the gentlemen of the orchestra would take a beuefit, when “ Guy Mannering ” will be put. on the stage with full musical partß. The company will be assisted by some of thedocnl amateurs, including Miss Laura "Wiseman, and we feel certain that a most entertaining evening’s amusement is in store for us
