hose were stretched along the wharf, and fall power put on for about 20 minutes. The officers aud men acquitted themselves admirably, and their new helmets were much admired, and had an admiring crowd following them. Afterwards a meeting was held at the Nil Desperandum Hotel, Mr Marks in the chair, when the new helmets were served out. Tne following honorary members were chosen : A. Anthony, C. Curtis, C. Burton, W. Evans, Gillett, Cosgrave, and Pane. The names of several members were scratched off for non-attendance, but several new members joined. It was resolved that the Finance Committee should meet this evening at 7 o’clock, at the Nil Desperanduin Hotel. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Waiotahi Board relative to the appointment of a Fire Inspector. A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings.
