THE EXHIBITION
Yesterday the hall was visited by- about 350 persons, by far the larger number being present in the evening,, the amount taken in the evening being £13 } aa against £4 in the afternoon. Amongst the exhibits which we have nr ,t yet mentioned are a quantity of spe' cimens from the Cure mine, amongst whir jh is the large stone which weighs about. loOlbs., and contains a large quantity of gold. The smaller specimens too fire very rich. There are two very nice, collections of shells, the one exhibited, bv Mr James Mackay, jun., and the oilier by v Mr Ehreniried. Mr Mackay- bas also sent a stuffed kakapo or nigh’t ow ,1 of very large size, which was caught or /the Buller river in the year 1859, aud is a great curiosity. The telegraph was agai/ l a t work, about oO messages haying n sent during the evening, and it was a source of gieat amusement. It will he again at work this evening.
