COAL AT OHINEMURI.
A sample of coal was brought to our office yesterday, from Ohinemuri, which was found by the Messrs Dixon, who have been prospecting that neighbourhood lately for this article. It was found close to a creek and near th" surface of the ground. Six miles north of Ohinemuri they have have also found another seam, apparently larger than the first, and of much better quality than that first found, and we are informed that it ignites very readily on being held in a flame. We cannot ourselves say anything as to the quality of the article, except that it seems more compact and less friable than most of the samples which have been from time to time found in this neighbourhood. We are very glad to see that the search for this great desideratum is likely to be successfully carried out, as it is an article which, if of good quality, will always find a good market, and will be a great boon to all, more particularly to the poor, upon whom the present high price of fuel comes very heavily.
