THAMES HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.

A SPECIAL meeting of the Hospital Committee was held yesterday afternoon, at the Q.C.E. Hotel, for the purpose of receiving tenders for the supply of requisites to the Hospital for the next 12 months. Present: —Rev. V. Lush (chair), Messrs, Renshaw, Brearlcy, McCullough, Day, Wallnutt, T. R. Jones, Dr. Fox, Mr Gribble, and the Secretary. BENEFIT FOR HOSPITAL. A letter was received from the Thames Scottish Volunteers enclosing a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the late concert given in aid of the Hospital, and a cheque for £3l Is, the net proceeds of the entertainment. The letter was acknowledged with thanks. The following is the account of the receipts and expenditure referred to as having been sent in:—Dr. : To cash received at doors, £l9 14 6cl ; per Miss Bailer, £2 14s ; per Hospital Committee, £G 18s ; per hon. members, and members, £ls ss; total, £44 11s Gd. Cr. : by telegrams, 7s ; Evening Star, £1 4s ; Finlay and Co., 15s ; bellman, ss; Guardian, £1 5s ; rent of Theatre, £3 ; lighting, &c, £1 ; Advertiser, £1 4s ; tickets and programme, £2 15s; labor and sundry expenses, £1 15s Gd ; balance paid to Hospital Committee, £3l Is; total, £44 11s Gd. TENDERS. Mr Leighton’s tender for supplying funerals at £2 9s was accepted.* Mr Weeks’ also tendered for £2 10s. Mr Warren’s tender for bread, at 8d per 41b loaf, was also accepted. This was the only tender. Mr Leinpriere’s tender for the supply of beer, at 2s per gallon, and bottled ale and porter, at 8s per dozen, was accepted. No other tender was sent in. Mr Bobbet’s tender for the supply of roasting beef and steaks, at 5d per lb ; beef without bone, 4d ; hind quarter of mutton, at 4]-d, and tore quarter, at 3d, was accepted. This was the only tender. Mrs Gamas’s tender for the washing, at 4d per pair for blankets, 2d per pair foxsheets, Is per dozen for sundries, and 3d per dozen for mangling, was accepted. There were four tenders sent in. Mr McConnell’s tender for the supply of milk, at 4d per quart, was accepted. Th ree tendered for the milk, the price being the same in each instance. For the supplj' of groceries, tenders were sent in by Messrs Shaw, Osborne Brothers, W. Davies, and T. Hewin and Co. The tender of the latter was accepted for the supply of the following articles:— Tea, at “2£d per lb ; coffee, at Is 2d; sugar, 54d ; salt, |d ; pepper, 2d ; mustaM, lOd ; bacon, 9d ; candles, Is; soap, 24s Gd per cwt ; soda, 12s Gd per ewt ; potatoes, 8s per cwt; flour, 17s per 1001 b; kerosene, 3s Id pe gallon ; fresh eg Is lOd per dozen; vegetables, 3jd per lb;

arrow root, 9d per lb ; sago, 5d per lb ; pearl barley, per lb; oatmeal, 2|d per lb ; rice, 3Jd per lb ; and fresh butter, Is 2d per lb. The other tenders were on the whole considerably higher than this one.

No tenders at all were sent in for the supply of English ale and stout, port wine, sherry, or brandy. The meeting adjdUmed as soon ns the above-mentioned tenders were accepted.
