MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS.

The annual meeting of the shareholders in the Abraham Lincoln Goldmining Company was held yesterday afternoon at the company’s office. Mr Burton occupied the chair. The balance-sheet aud report were read and adopted. The mine manager’s report says : Gentlemen. —“ I have tho-bonor to report for the information of shareholders that I took charge of the mine on 7th March, 1872. At that time the work was confined to driving on the leader, mid level from the winze, from which two very good erushings of tons were obtained, the product of which amounted to 128 11-20 ounces of gold, or over an ounce to the ton. A contract was then let to put in the low level tunnel to cut the lode under the winze. This work was accomplished at Christmas last. A contract to sink the winze, which did not take very long, was let. and the upper and lower levels were connected. Since then the work has been confined to stoping on the lode, mid-level, and the second payable crushing obtained amounting to 744 tons, with a return of 44 12-24 ounces of gold. At the present time about 20 tons of quartz are paddocked, and in a fortnight’s time I shall have another crushing ready, which I have no doubt will turn out an average yield. I would recommend, as soon as possible, driving to the right on the lode in the lower level. When that is done I am sanguine that the company’s mine will prove itself to be a valuable property.—l am, &c., Curtis Moore, Mine Manager. To the shareholders. The balance-sheet shows the state of the funds to be as follows ; —Dr.—To calls, £459 15s lOd ; gold sold, £449 Is 5d ; other sources, £34 16s; total, £943 13s 3d. Cr.—By wages, £494 14s ; mine account, crushing, etc., £440 19s lid ; interest, £3 6s lOd, leaving a balance in hand of £4 12s 6d ; total, £943 13s 3d. Mr William Burton was elected a director in the room of Mr Arbury, who retired. Captain Skene was appointed as auditor to the company. A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings.
