AMUSEMENTS.

THEATRE ROYAL. Mr Morris, Bandmaster of the Volunteer Band, had a crowded house at this theatre last night on the occasion of a benefit tendered to him, and we are. glad to be able to state that the entertainment was eminently successful. A great loss was occasioned by the absence of Mr Frank Weston, who had promised to be present, but disappointed Air Morris at the last moment without any intimation that he was not coming. The band, of course, was present in full force, aud several well known amateurs lent their assistance, some of them having kindly come in at the last moment. We congratulate Mr Morris on the success of the evening's entertainment, aud the manner in which his friends patronised the theatre on the occasion of his benefit. ACADEMY OF MUSIC. Dr. Carr opened this hall last night for a shori time, in order to let any who wished to attend to see the effects of the u laughing gas.” Admission being free, a greTd many were present, and several gentlemen inhaled the “ gas ” much to the amusement of the audience, who were edified by finding out the real character of the individuals under the influence. . The Dr. said that lie did not wish to spoil the benefit at the Koval by opening the hall free, so he would simply show them that he had everything now perfect for future operations. He dismissed his audience accordingly at about twenty minutes before nine o’clock.
