UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS. ETC., ETC., ETC. AUCKLAND. Tuesday, 8 p.m. Tiie case of Reid v. Horsfall has terminated in a verdict for plaintiff for £lO and costs. At the Licensing meeting to-day the Court was crowded. The Rev. Dr Maunsell presented a petition signed by 2,000 persons against the granting of new licenses. Several old licenses were refused. No new ones were granted. Goldsworthy’s funeral was one of the most largely attended ever seen here. The daughters of Mr P. Brown bad a narrow escape from drowning on the voyage between Auckland and Russell, in the schooner Ariel. A man jumped overboard, and a boat was lowered. o
