Bluff. —March G : The Gothenburg left Hobson’s Bay on the 29th February, ami. arrived at the Bluff at 4 p.m. on the Gib. Melbourne. February 29: A little girl, belonging to a family recently come from New Zealand, fell through an unlocked door in a railway carriage while travelling on the Taradale railway. She was [licked up insensible, and died of concussion of the brain. —Captain Col lard lias been convicted and sentenced to one month's imprisonment. Great efforts are being made to procure commutation of bis sentence.—The cargo of the Sussex is still being recovered by salvors.—A man named Hancock lias been convicted of a criminal assault upon bis daughter, and sentenced to death.— Flio new Blackwell steamer Northumberland arrived from port to port under 55 days.—Two eases of stickiug-np have occurred at Goulbnrn. One prisoner lias been taken. —'The Victorian woolen factory at Geelong will commence manufacturing broadcloth in annul a mould.

Sydney. —February 29 : Mr C. E. Jones has be' n lecturing successfully ; lie is about to make a lecturing tour in America. En route for America lie will probably visit New Zealand. The Ministerial elections arc going on. The struggle continues with varying success.—The 27th was observed as a public holiday ; thanksgiving services were held in all the churches for the recovery of the Prince of Wales. The “Te Deuni ” was sung in the Catholic Cathedral.

Queensland.— February 29 : The Norman river is Hooded as high as before, cutting off communication again with the Port Darwin Telegraphic Construction party.

Adelaide. —February 29 : The Roman Catholic Bishop Sliiel is reported to he sinking fast. Prayers are being said in all the Roman Catholic churches.
