(from tiie “hawke’s bay herald.”) Wellington. —March 9 : The sMp England has arrived from London, after a passage of 90 days. The measles are on board, and 1G deaths occurred from that disease during the passage. The England was immediately placed in quarantine.— William Pagan, Controller of the Money Order Post Office Savings Bank, died yesterday from pulmonary consumption, after three hours’ illness. Messrs Gisborne, Brogden, Carruthers, Hector, and O’Neill have started for the Bimutaka, to decide the route for the railway. The supper to the Wellington crew last night was a success. Tiie Provincial Government has decided to locate the Canadian and Nova Scotian immigrants on the land between Masterton and the Gorge. The General Government pays the passages of the immigrants, and an agent is to proceed to Canada, to carry out the project.
