SUPPOSED WRECK OF THE CUTTER GEORGE.

A portion of a wreck, supposed to be that of the cutter George, has been found off the Sandspit. A new rudder and a portion of the bulwarks were seen floating about as the cutter Waiapti passed yesterday. The George was a cutter of about 11 tons burden, lately engaged in tlie trade between Coromandel and the Thames. On the loth of the present month she left the Thames for the Miranda to take in cargo, and if it was not to be got there she was to go on to the Miranda. Since that time she lias not been heard of. She belonged to Captain Soutcr, who has identified the rudder, and her loss will lie pecuniarily about £IOO. At the time she left she had on board her captain, named Harold, and another man, of whom no tidings have come to hand, and it is feared that they have been lost. Since the nbive was in type a gentleman called at our office and stated that the above report is incorrect, the Wairoa, cutter, from the Wairoa, having arrived, and reported that the George was there when she left.
