OHINEMURI.
(FROM A CORRESPONDENT.) February 14. Du I’oi.LEN and Mr Mack ay have arrived, also Mr Millet), Assistant Engineer. The former have come up to investigate certain allegations made, as to the cause of stoppage of the telegraph mail. The latter has come to inspect certain creeks preparatory to bridging. 51 r Floyd has arrived from Taupo, en route for fSliortland. I understand that progress is being made with the lino from Katikati, and that matters on the East Coast arc going on satisfactorily. I see that certain statements have been published relating to the mail stoppage. 1 think it would have been better not to have mentioned names until the investigation had been made.
The s.s. Fairy and p.s. Effort are lying alongside of tiic Imperial Hotel wharf. This is a great stiide towards the great “to he.” It is not beyond the recollection of your readers that oven one steamer was refused permission to pass Ropata’s settlement. There have been a good number of visitors lately passing to and from the Lake country. I expect there will lie a meeting tomorrow, hut nothing definite is known. Mr Mack ay has gone to visit ltopata and other natives.
