8.40 p.m. At the meeting of the Vale of Avoca, the report was passed, and votes of thanks were returned to the directors and managers. In the Council to-day, the sum of £l5O was granted in aid of the Thames Volunteers. £7OO was also appropriated for prizes. A ten-roomed house at Rangiaohia. belonging to A. G. Bertram, was totally destroyed by fire. The property was insured.
