MINING.
Bendigo Independent. —At a meeting of directors held yesterday, the funds were found to be in such a satisfactory condition that they felt themselves in a position to declare a dividend of 12s 6d per share on the 540 shares in the company. This makes a total of £337 10s, and is the result of the per centage on the returns from the tribute. The total return of melted gold from the last crushing is 311ozs. 17 ilwts.
Flying Cloud.— Yesterday the manager brought down to town a small bag full of good gold bearing stone, which was taken from the reef in the morning. lie reports that the drive is being pushed ahead, and is now nearly, if not quite, under where lie expected to cut the run worked on above. The spot, where this gold has been taken from is about 13 feet from the boundary of the Black Angel claim, and just where they have the most of the dip of the reef in their ground. It has been pretty hard driving lately, but is now getting softer and the reef is slightly increased in size. A further parcel of about 301bs. of much richer stone was brought down last evening, and more is expected to-day, the precious metal being still visible in the face. Pride of York. — A lodgement of 29 ozs 15dwts of gold was made yesterday on behalf of the shareholders in this company. Queen of May.— The half yearly meeting of the company was held on Tuesday at the company’s office, Grahamstown. The directors’ and manager’s reports were read and adopted, and the balance sheet was passed. The following is the state of the company’s finances :—Expenses on permanent works, contracts and timber, £l2O 17s 11 ; other expenses, management, survey, rent, &c., &c., £6O 19s ; assets, uncalled capital, £4,100 13s 4d ; unpaid calls, £O3 7s ; cash in bank, £54 3s 3d ; liabilities, nil. The following gentlemen were appointed directors :—Messrs Mclntyre, Turtle, McNab, McKolvie, and Ballin, and Mr Charles Stephenson was selected to act as auditor for the company. Owing to the want of a quorum thero was no extraordinary meeting held. It had been their intention to propose some alterations in the rules, but of course this business had to be postponed for the present. \Vc perceive that a call (sth) of 4d per share has been made, payable on or before the 10th January, 1872. Nil Desberandum (Coromandel).— A parcel of IGozs lOdwts of gold was lodged in the Bank of New Zealand, the result of a crushing from this company’s mine. Windsor Castle.— The first annual meeting of the shareholders in the Windsor Castle Goldmining Company was held at the Quecnsferry Hotel, yesterday afternoon. The report and balance-sheet were read, and were deemed very satisfactory. The following gentlemen were appointed ■directors for the ensuing year :—Messrs McKinstry, Boyd, Simpson, Sloane, Friend, Pugh, and Ur Wright. This concluded the business, and the meeting then adjourned.—D. S. Cross. Red Queen. — Another parcel of rich specimens were broken out of the leader yesterday afternoon, and gold is still in sight. This looks well, and the prospects of the company seem to be brightening. NONrARF.IL. —The manager yesterday lodged 1690z5. lldwts., the result of the cleaning up from the late crushing. The quantity of stone put through for this return is not to hand. Albuknia. —A quantity of gold, amounting to lOlozs. lOdwts., has been banked by the Alburnia Company. Cock-a-Doodle.— Yesterday a clean up 'took place at the Missouri battery for this company, and a parcel of 25ozs. of gold was brought down, besides which there is a quantity of amalgam yet to he treated, which will increase the yield. A lot of about 451bs. of stone, of which part was good specimen stuff, was reduced at Spencer and Hall’s test battery, and gave the satisfactory return of 130z5., which makes a total at present of 38ozs. from this crushing. New Caledonia. —An extraordinary jneeting of shareholders was held yesterday afternoon, at the office of the company, Grahamstown, Mr Dewar in the chair. The manager’s report was read and adopted, being considered very satisfactory. The former directors having retired in a body, Messrs Dewar, T. Spencer, Salmon, Williams, and Earl were elected. At a directors’ meeting held afterwards, a call of one shilling per share (2,400 th) was made, giving an amount of £l2O to the funds of the company. Arrangements are being made to have another crushing very soon, and work will be vigorously prosecuted, so that in a short time large quantities of stone will be got out and sent to the mill. Coliban. —The crushing of ten tons for this company was finished at Partington’s machine last night, but the result is not jet to hand. This parcel consisted of the cleanings up of the paddock and reef, and «o large return is expected from it.
