Ter Grcvillc and Co.’a Express (Reuter’s Agents). "♦ Auckland, 2.35 p.m. The Provincial Council sat until nearly live o’clock this morning. Mr Mackay moved, in considering the estimates, an addition of £SO to the salary of the Thames Warden. The motion was negatived. A motion recommending the payment of £SOO to Walter Williamson for his gold discoveries was also negatived. It was resolved to appropriate £250 in aid of gold prospecting within the Province. The motion for handing over the Thames waterworks to a private company was thrown out. The Harbour Loan Repeal Bill was passed without amendment. The s.s. ‘St. Kilda’ arrived in the Manukau this morning, with late Southern news. Tomkin’s store at Wellington has been burned. It was insured for £250 in the New Zealand companies office.
