REGATTA MEETING.

An adjourned meeting of the committee appointed to make arrangements far holding an anniversary regatta at Shorthand was held last evening at Butt’s Hotel. Captain Butt occupied the chair. The minutes of the meeting held on the previous evening were read and confirmed. The working committee reported that the following amounts had so far been collected by the members, and that more was expected :—Captain Butt, £5 ; Mr Dodd, £5 2s fid ; Grant, £8 15s; Bush, £lO 12s; Bose, £9 7s fid ; Peterson, £2 ; Savage, £1 os ; Barnett, £4 10s, making a total of £46 odd. It was stated that several other lists were out, and had not yet been returned. The meeting expressed itself well satisfied with the result so far. The names of Messrs Creagh, O’Keeffe, Tookey, Wilkinson, Thos. Barnett, Grace, Buckley, Lipsey, Dare, Kerr, Hagin, and Williams, were added to the working committee. The Chairman stated that the Thames Volunteer Rifle Band had been engaged for £l2, to play on the day of the regatta. Tba engagement as above stated was confirmed on the motion of Mr Pithkethly, seconded by Mr Rose. Mr Rociie said that he had been credibly informed that a gentleman from the Gralmmstown Regatta Committee baa been here this evening for the purpose of suggesting an amalgamation, but in consequence of the meeting being held somewhat later than had been expected, be had gone away. The Chairman said he thought there was every prospect of the proposed regatta being a success, but be would be glad to co-operate with the Grahamstown or any other committee on the subject. The meeting adjourned until Friday evening, at 8.30 p.m.
