GERALDINE PRESBYTERIAN SABBATH SCHOOL PICNIC.
(Communicated). The morning of the 16th dawned with every prospect of lovely weather and an enjoyable day for the school picnic to be held on the property of Mr Lynn, at Te Moaua. At 7.30 a.m. the teachers and friends were busily employed at the Manse in making the final preparations; cutting sandwiches, and carefully packing the abundance of good things sent by generous-hearted town and country folk. 8.30 found us ready to meet the children, who, according to arrangements, began to gather at the church. After singing a hymn, our superintendent, Mr McKenzie, addressed the scholars, expressing regret that he would not be able to go with them, owing to an unfortunate circumstance, but hoped they would spend a happy day. By the advertised time, 9.30, we had managed to make a start. Mr Scott took the lead with his drag and four howes, followed by Miss Button's drag aud four-in-hand (driven by herself), and about twenty other vehicles bringing up the rear, all filled with picnickers intent on enjoyment. It was a very dusty crowd who alighed at the camping ground, but notwithstanding the dust all seemed to have enjoyed the drive. Willing hands made light and quick work of the preparations for lunch, and the lunch itself was just as quickly disposed of. The committee had beeu fortunate in the choice of a ground, the cool and shade of the bußh being very much appreciated on the hot day. Mr McCaskey was present with his camera, taking views in the bush, and also photographed the children in the open. At the sound of the gong the children gathered for tea, before which Mr Todd in a few remarks made reference to the liberality of members of the church and congregation, all of whom were cheered lustily by the boys, finishing up with a oO id round cheer for the superintendent, and t> Rev - A - Todd ' The dra ß ß arrived "in GC*M™ a° out 7 - 30 '> sO . co . n " cluding one of the £ oat successful picnics held in connection with tu? church.
