TEMUKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The regular monthly meeting of abovjr was held on Thursday evening. Present —Messrs A.. Russell (chairman), T.'F. Hooper, C. Bates, G. Levens and Geo. Davey. Apologies for non-attendence were received from Messrs Scannell, Miles, and Taylor. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows : From Mr F. R. Flatman, M.H.R., under date November 26th, accepting the committees' invitation to present the prizes and forwarding a donation towards the prize fund of one guinea. From Mr A. E. G. Rhodes, under the same date, remitting h' t s annual donation of £3 3s towards the fund. The chairman stated that Mr Rhodes had expressed his regret at being unable to attend the prize day calebration. The head master forwarded summary of attendance returns for the quarter ending .December 31st ia accordance with, regulations. THANKS. Mr Levens moved, Mr Hooper seconded, and it was carried.— " JThat this committee record its hearty thanks to all donors of prizes, and to the ladies who acted as sewing judges." In this connection the secretary stated that Mrs J. W. Miles had been unable to accept the committee's invitation to act as a judge, and he had accepted the suggestion of a member of committee and asked Miss Robertson to act in that capacity. The judges had expressed great satisfaction with the quality of the needlework. THE BUILDING. The chairman and Mr Levens reported upon an application made for a grant for repairs. The Revd. Mr Barclay and Mr J. Talbot, members of the board had inspected the building. He understood that in all a sum of £lO had been allotted for the work. Mr Blake, the board's architect, had visited the school that day, and would submit a report upon requirements. It was agreed, on the motion of Mr Davey, that the chairman and one member of the committee attend to the carrying out of the work on receipt of the report. Messrs Davey and the chairman were appointed visitors for the month. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £1315s 9d, including prizes, were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
