The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association of Canterbury, Limited, report for the week ending Friday, April 13th, 1894, as follows; — Business in grain and produce during the week has been of a nominal character. The slight improvement in the English market is hoped to be the forerunner of a further advance, and the Continental drought may affect the position. Locally sales of old wheat have transpired at recent rates, and remaining stocks are firmly held. New wheat of good quality has a firmer tone, but weathered and damaged are unchanged. Oats are not coming forward freely, but southern quotations prevent any advance. Barley continues to move off steadily, and anything showing quality commands full rates. Beans are without animation, and peas are taken only to fill orders, which are of a semi-retail character. Byegrass maintains its position, but cocksfoot, excepting for good qmality, is easier. Potatoes continue to find buyers at last quotations, but speculators for export are inactive. Dairy produce is unchanged. Present quotation f.o.b.
