MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. ■ London, April 12. The soft goods trade throughout the United Kingdom is very brisk. A shipment of fowls and ducks from Australia, packed in boxes, was a great success, but the experiment of packing them in muslin was not nearly so successful. It is suggested that the feet of fowls ought to be scalded and cleaned prior to shipment. New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 107; 3J per cent, ditto, 100 J. At a salvage sale of 600 bales of wool from the fire at the London Docks warehouse, full prices wero realised. In connection with the shipment of teal and black duck out of season, it is considered that teal ought to come uuplucked. Experts report that the consignment of fowls and ducks were excellently dressed; also that the rabbits were of flue quality. The ship Wellington is now discharging, and much of her meat cargo is damaged. Danish butter, 107 s. April 13. A member of a firm of Glasgow provision merchants interviewed the Minister of Agriculture, and directed his attention to the fact that calves fattened on skimmed milk and oleomargarine realised £6 10s in the Home market. As a result of the interview the Minister has requested the Agricultural College to experiment and report as to the expediency of fattening veal for export. Messrs Henry S.
