overseer's report,

The overseer reported:—Owing to the holdidays and the broken weather, the works generally have made little progress during the past month. Contracts —No- 390: Formation near railway reserve 389 Orari has been completed since last meeting. No. 392: Suspension bridge at Geraldine is in hand and should be completed this week. Bridges—On examination, the bridge near Lysaghts was found to be unsafe for heavy traffic; the bearers being very much decayed. I These have been replaced with new ones, and the decking renewed. The bridge is now safe for any kind of traffic. In this connection, I have an offer of a few pieces of bridge timber (ironbark) which I found to be of good quality. I should advise the board to accept as we have none of this class in stock. Teinple'sjFord—As instructed the stop bank in the river below | the crossing has been made good, and the steam diverted down the natural course. As directed I interviewed Captain Temple in reference to the further diversion and requested him to place his views of the matter before the board in writing, which he has done, and also furnished a plan of section. Small Birds—Although the birds appear to be numerous enough the quantity of eggs and heads brought in so far is very small. The price appears to be too low to induce the boys to gather them. Rates—Since last meeting the rates have come in fairly well. There is, however, a large amount outstanding.— I have, etc., Wm. Shibes, Overseer.

The report was read and it was decided to accept the offer for ironbark bridge timber, and also to take proceedings at once against persons whose rates are overdue. STOPPING ROAD. On the motion of Mr Deßenzy, seconded by Mr Brophy, it was resolved —" That it is declared that the existing road between Sections 30,865 and 10,910 is stopped between the Kakahu river and a point 797, three links therefrom, as colored green on plan No. 328." INTERVIEWS. Mr Greenaway waited on the board offering to rent gravel reserve, Orari Road. Mr Greenaway offered to fence the reserve at his own cost and pay 5s per annum; board to find gate for pit.—Offer accepted. REFTS. Resolved—" That if one half the rents due on cottages be not paid in one week from date notice to quit be given and rents due be recovered by legal process." FIXED DEPOSrTS. Resolved —"That fixed deposit £SOO, faUing due at the Bank of New Zealand, Geraldine, on July 21st, 1894, be placed to current account at the Bank of New South Wales; also interest accrued from the above deposit." Resolved £SOO, falling due at the Bank of New South Wales, Geraldine, on January 19th, 1894, be redeposited with the same bank for a period of three months; interest accrued to be placed to current."

ACCOUNTS. The pay-sheet amounted to £96 7s 6d. The board then rose.
