ORARI-WAIHI WATER SUPPLY COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the above was held ou Friday evening last. Present— Messrs Thatcher (chairman), McKenzie, C. Hewson, and W. Hewson. The chairman stated, that he had received three tenders for the post of ranger —W. Gould, £3O per annum; W. Scully, £29 per annum; M. Colloty, £33 per annum. The tenders of W. Scully and M. Colloty were considered informal. Mr C. Hewson proposed, Mr McKenzie seconded, and it was — " That Mr W. Gould's tender be accepted." It having come to the knowledge of the committee that Mr Flatman had taken the water from one of the races in his paddock to supply a race of his own forming, the chairman was requested to write to Mr Flatman and ask him to turn half the water back into the old race, or the race will be an additional expense to the district to keep clean; also to draw his attention to clause 18 in the regulations, and that he report what he has done to the committee at its next meeting either personally or by writing. It was also proposed that the chairman write to Mr A. Kelmau,jun., and draw his attention to clause 18 also. The ranger reported all well, and his month's salary was passed for payment. This being all the business the committee rose.
