HILTON SCHOOL TREAT.
The annual treat in connection with Hilton School was held on Tuesday last in the school grounds. The weather proved favourable, with the exception of a shower or two, and the event was carried out most successfully. About mid-day children and visitors began tj arrive, and games were indulged in until two o'clock, when tea and plentiful refreshments were provided for all. A few races for boys and. girls were next got off, and about four o'clock the children assomblrd to aing a few songs and receive their prizes. Games went on again wh?'le daylight lasted, but were were agreeably interrupted by tea at six o'clock. Afterwards tue day was finished up with a dance, which lasted till small hours of the morning. • The following is the prize list, and the Committee desire to acknowledge the handsome prizes for sewing presented by Mrs Hay and Mrs Kelland. Prizes for pupils in standard classes : Standard TV., Lilian Kelland ; Standard 111., Albert Griffiths and Kate Earl; Standard 11, Anthony Twomey, Thomas Archibald, Fred Griffiths, and May Ineson; Standard 1., Daniel Lear/, John Crow, Mary Connolly, Nellie Beattie, Jane Beattie, Bridget Leary, Annie Crow, Florence Shears. prizes for Sewing : Standard VI., Mary JJmII } Standard V., Lizzie Skinner 1- Mary .Leary 2j Standard IV., Kate Leary 1. (The prize was a handsome . work-basket given by Mrs Hay for the best sewing in the school) ; Alice Patrick 2; Minerva lueson 3. Standard Ill—Rose Earl 1. Standard ll.—Mary lueson 1. " Standard I.—Bridget Leary 1; Jane Beatie 2; Mary Connolly 3. Infanta —Snowdrop Shears 1; Henrietta Shears 2.
