MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of this board was held on Friday, 20th October. Present —Messrj C. G. Tripp (iu the chair), G. J. Dennistoun, R. Mackay, and R. Thew. The following tenders were opened : Contract .No. 11, work on Turner's road : J. Sugrue, £4519s T.McGillicuddy, £56 8s 4d ; D. Gregau, £59 12s Gd ; J. Fiefield, £6O 14s 2d. The tender of J. Sugrue was accepted. No. 12, trimming lower branches of trees in plantation at Clayton's crossing : T. M. Keane, £2O and £22 10s; J. Small, £SO ani £32 10s ; Wm. Duncan, £34 and £25; Hall & Main, £32 10s; W. Ledgerwood, £26; A. Bain, £5. The tender of T. M. Keane was accepted. The tenders of W. Ledgerwood and A. Bain were informal, no deposit being forwarded. Mr J'. C. Turton wrote asking the board to leause Reserve 1804. —Granted on the understanding that sheep only be allowed to graze on same. Mr D. Shaw drew the board's attention to the state of the road leading to sections 36096, 97, and 99.—The clerk wa* instructed to write to Mr Shaw informing him that at present there were no funds for that purpose, but that when " thirds " were paid the work would be put in hand. It was resolved that any tuture work required on the road leading to Clarke's mill be carried out only on condition that the interested persons pay half cost of same, and that anyone damaging the road by drawing excessive loads on it be made to pay the cost of repairs; that mill-ow«er#' attention be drawn to clause 92 of the Public Works Act, 1882 ; that the overseer inspect road, and if the work of repairs is urgent to pall for tenders for same; also to report on the probable cost of removing the dangerous point of rock on the Cattle Valley road. Accounts amounting to £44 os were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
