New York, Oct. 17. The President of Brazil has agreed to withdraw from certain positions in Rio de Janeiro on the assurance from, the foreign owners that they will no permit further bombardment of the city. Oct. 18. Another Rio de Janeiro fort has joined the rebels. Rio de Janeiro, Oct. 18, The rebel warship Urano was attempting to escape when she was sunk by the forts. Many of those on board lost their lives, and a French warship rescued the rest.
