WRECK OF THE MIOWERA.
London Q ct 17> Twelve guineas prem;; um hag been paid at Lloyd § to insure the Miowera, now °YWdir o at Vancouver. San Francisco, Oct. 18. Huddart, Parker and Co’s steamer Miowera, which left Sydney for Vancouver on September 19th, struck on some rocks at Honolulu at 8 o’clock on the night of October 2nd. The vessel is resting amidships, aud her rudder-post is gone. The steamer makes little water. The tugs failed to move her, and faint hopes are entertained of saving the ship, as she lies iu a dangerous position, and will break up if bad weather is experienced. Her cargo was saved in good condition, and her supply of coal jettisoned. The mails aud passengers have arrived at San Francisco by the Australia.
The Miowera ran on the rocks at the entrance to Honolulu harbour in 11 feet of water. An American warship attempted to tow her oli‘, but every attempt to move her failed. Mr Huddart expects to be able to maintain ar'unbrokeu time-table from Australia. Oct. 19.
The Miowera entered the harbour passage while the pilot was lighting the buoys at 8 o’clock on the evening of October 2nd. Her engines arc uninjured. Five tugs and steamers tried to got her off without success. Lloyd’s fear is that she will bece ne a total wreck, owing to her stern being immovable. ,
