THE SHERMAN SILVER ACT.

Washington, Oct. 16. It is reported that the Democratic senators have agreed to a compromise on the silver question by which the Sherman Act will be continued for 18 months, and the issue of bonds limited.

The Senate resumes ita sitting to day. The President will meet the opponents of the Repeal Bill in person. Mr Voorhees says that the fight has only begun, and that the ultimate victory of the opponents of the Sherman Act is certain.
