London, Oct. 16

One hundred thousand workmen paraded in Hyde Park in support of the miners who are on strike.

The Daily Chronicle says that the remainder of the coal-owners are offering to let the men resume at former wages, provided that they pledge themselves not to ask for an advance later on.

Mr John Burns, addressing a meeting at Hyde Park, said that the miners were winning a great battle. Forty per cent of the men have returned at the old rate of wages.

Work has been found on Gatlin’s river railway for twenty of t the Christchurch unemployed (married), and a few will be sent to Mount Cook next week, if the weather is favourable,
