GERALDINE ROAD BOARD

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Tuesday last. Present—Messrs A. White (chairman), J. Williams, R. Y. Ferguson, and W. S. Maslin. THE NEW FOOTBRIDGE. Mr iShiers, overseer of the Geraldine Road Board, waited on the Board with a plan for a suspension footbridge for the Waihi crossing near Morrison’s store. Resolved—“ That this Board agree to pay the Geraldine Roard Board half cost for the construction of the footb idge at the Waihi crossing, Geraldine, when work is completed.” CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was received, and dealt with as under : From the Geraldine County Council, stating that board’s moiety of Harbour Board rate, £l4 5s 3d, was due. —Amount to bo paid. From Lands and Survey Department, asking the board to furnish details of the manner in which they will expend “ thirds.”—Dealt with. From Mr T. F. Fyfe, stating that school children were in the habit of going through a gap in the park fence, and crossing his section in doing so. He wished the Board to instruct Mr James Turner to remove the fence he has erected across the roadway on Wright Street.— Mr Turner to be requested to remove the fence. overseer’s REPORT. The overseer’s report was read on work done. The overseer also reported that he had taken 11 sheep from the water race ; seven of the sheep were dead, and four would not live. OVERDRAFT. Resolved —“ That the chairman arrange with the Bank of New Zealand for a temporary overdraft so as to avoid breaking the board’s fixed deposit.” ACCOUNTS OWING. Resolved —“ That monthly accounts be furnished to parties in debt to the board.” PAY-SHUET. Accounts amounting to £3O 4s 9d were passed for payment. RATES. Resolved —“ That at the next meeting of the board a rate be struck of fths of a penny in the £; payable on November 15th.” DUCKS IN THB WATER RAGE. Resolved —“That the overseer draw the attention of owners of ducks to the board’s by-law re allowing ducks to frequent the water race, and give them notice that the by-law wiii bo put into force at once.” The Board then rose.
