SALVATION ARMY, GERALDINE.
The fourth anniversary tea of the Salavation Army, Geraldine, was held on Tuesday evening, when a great number of people sat down to a substantial tea, provided by the lasses and friends, The Salvation lasses waited at the tables, and after tea a procession was formed to march through the town, headed by a band, made up of members of the Geraldine, Terauka, and Timaru bands conjointly, who played very good music, consid-iiug they had not practiced together before. At the after meeting there was a great crowd of people, the barracks being crowded to the doors. Staff Captain Alderton conducted, and there were also present on the platfoim Mrs Alderton, Captains Dixon, Lomas, and Duggan, the Rev. Mr Woodward, and a host of members of the Army.
Staff Captain Alderton spoke of the good work carried on by the Army throughout the Colony, and of the great moral influence it had. During the four years it had been in existence at Gearldine the Army had made great strides, a fact which must have been very disappointing to those prophets who opined that the Salvation Army work would Ijaye a sjiqrj; life in this district. He then referred tp % Miltqn b,y-Jprs, with respect tp cornet playing and processipns, and showed that Jaw was framed only to put down the Army. During the evening Captain Duggan sang an original song ol his own composing, bearing on the Milton by-law case, one verse of which was exceptionally good, where it spoke of the Government having to feed ilie ytyqle of the Salvation Army in and.' wound up sl*l} '4 You know we can knpw."
