SOUTH CANTERBURY HARRIERS.

The meet of these hounds in the Geraldine district for June 2(}th was fixed for Mr J. Kelland's, Hilton. Punctually f*t 11 o'clock Messrs Wynn-Williams arrived with 10 couple of hounds from Mr A. L. Barker's, where they had put up the night before. After giving a few •minutes' law to the laggards, a start was made in the big paddock on the Hilipn road. running a complete circuit of the big paddock the hare was forced across the road and up the big terrace into Mr A. M. Clark's property, where the dogs had to be whipped off. All being satisfied with the day's sport, a return was made to Mr Kelland's, where an excellent luncheon awaited them. We might mention that this was a regular meet in the days of the Geraldine beagles, which pack hunted Mr Kelland's property some eight years ago for the last time. The field consisted of some 35 followers. Among those present were noticed Mrs Macdonald (on Kingbird), Misses Clark (2), Macdonald, flay, and Wareing, Messrs A. L. Barker, Master (on Daddy Longlegs), 0. Wyim- Williams, Huntsman (on Lewis), B. Wynn-Williams, Whip (on Sibbald), Crowe (on Boy Blue), B. Macdonald (on Muckross), N. H. Macfarlane (on Johnston's Luggage), Kingsley (on Kahikatea), Lovegrove (2), Wareing (2), Dr Cayley (on Third Attempt), A. G. Cox (on Donnybrook), Beattie (2), Clephane, and Talbot. While on wheels Mr A. M. Clark was always in a good position for showing the ladies of his party whatever sport was to be seen.
