AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD

A special meeting of the above was held last evening. Present—Messrs J. Ashwell (chairman), A. Russell, and E. Carr. INTERVIEW. Mr Washington waited on the board aud asked that a portion of the creek in front of his premises and reserve occupied by him might be cleaned. He used to clean it himself under an arraugement with the board, and it was omitted from the last contract. He did not come seeking a job, but was prepared to do the work if the board wished. It was arranged that Mr Washington undertake the work at the contract price. Mr Washington also applied for the formation of a footpath up to his premises in Alexandra street, and also for some shingle on about 5 chains of road.— Deferred for consideration. RESERVE RENTS AND RATES. From a list of defaulters in respect of rates and rents, 12 were chosen by lot to be sued within seven days. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £3B 4s 6d were passed for payment. GARDEN RESERVES. The clerk stated that by a notification in the Government Gazette of June 15th, No 47, it appeared that eleven pieces of land in the township of Arowhenua had been duly set aside and vested in the board as Garden Reserves. The Land Department had promised full information upon the subject.
