TEMUKA LICENSING COMMITTEE
The quarterly (aunual) meeting of the above was held yesterday at the Temuka Courthouse. Present—Messrs J. Talbot (chairman), A. M. Clark, M. Quinn, S. Clinch, and W. G. Aspinall. After routine, the inspector's report was read. No objections were made to renewals, but attention was drawn to the fact that the licensee of the Wallingfbrd Hotel, had been fined on November 22 for refusing to admit the police, and that the licensee of the Royal Hotel might conduct the house a little more strictly. The inspector, in reply to the committee, said the class of men who frequented the house were difficult to control, but that the house was much better managed than formerly, and better furnished. He did not make the marks in his report as an objection to the license, but in accordance with his duty. Renewals of licenses were granted in respect of all licenses, and minor business having been transacted, the meeting terminated.
