GERALDINE LICENSING BENCH
The adjourned annual meeting of the above was held yesterday at noon. Present—Messrs M. C. Orbell (in the chair) H. B. Webster, J. Riordan, and F. W. Worner. RENEWALS OF LICENSES. Crown Hotel, Geraldine, application for renewal of license. Police Report:— House of wood, in good condition, better than it has been for 12 years. No complaints against the house except Sunday trading, and persons keeping late hours on the premises. The licensee stated that he always turned everyone out of his house, and as far as he knew they never kept late hours in his house. The constable Baid he believed that the licensee did his best to turn people out of his house at the proper time, although he knew cases of persons having stayed in the house late.—License granted, also an extension from 10 to 11 o'clock license. Geraldine Hotel, Thomas Reseigh. application for renewal. Mr F. Wilson Smith, appeared for licensee. Constable Willoughby said that in his last quarter's report, an objection was made to the dinking habits of the licensee but as far as the house was concerned it was well conducted. The licensee denied the charge of continuous drinking, and said he had been very ill for some time. Since he had taken a trip to Australia he had not touched drink for nine weeks. The bench after a few minutes, consultation adyispcj the constable on future occasions to bring cqrrpboptiye evidence whenever ha has a charge against a house, and cautioned the licensee to be very particular in the future, Constable Willoughby stated that his report referred to the past, but since then the licensee had reformed and was now quite capable of holding the license, aud consequently he did not see the need of bringing further evidence. License granted, also an extension of same to 11 o'clock. Bush Hotel, Mrs Holloway, application for renswal^Granted. Bush Hotel, application for transfer of license from Mrs Holloway to J, M. Keane.l Mr Smith appeared for Mr Keane, and stated that the new licensee had bought the Bush Hotel and was having it painted and thoroughly renovated, and intended to have the place refurnished. Application granted with 11 o'clock license, also permission given to change the ljame of the hotel to '? The Commercial HoteL'' The meeting then terminated,
