DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. The following is the report for the week ending Tuesday : Wheat—The market is quiet; the only demand is for best hard velvet, red straw and tuscan for local requirements, but sales are not numerous, and so far there are no indications of immediate improvement. Quotations for prime milling velvet and tuscan are 2s 9d to 2s lid, extra prime 3s, medium to good 2a 5d to 2s Bd, inferior to medium 2s Id to 2s 4d, broken and thin Is 9d to 2s (ex store, sacks weighed in, terms). Oats—Last quotations have been firmly maintained. Extra prime bright sparrow bill and Sutherlands have been sold at a slight advance, all other sorts being at prices much about the same. A moderate demand for export exists. Most of the consignments still coming forward are being stored; but it is very questionable if prices will go much higher. Quotations for best bright milling Is 9£d to Is lOd, extra prime la lOjd, beat bright feed (sparrow bills) Is 9d to Is medium and short tartarians Is 8d to Is Bfd, discolored and inferior Is 5d to la 7£d, medium to good long tartarians Is BJd to Is 9Jd, extra bright and clean Is lOd to Is black ls7|dto Is B|d, Danish Is 7|d to Is B£d (ex store, sacks extra, net). Barley—Prime malting could still be placed at late rates, but medium and feed sorts have no attention. Quotations for prime malting 4s to 4s Bd, medium to good 3s 3d to 3s 9d, feed and milling 2s to 3s (ex store, sacks extra, terms). DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Market on Tuesday the following business was transacted:— Cattle—ll2 head were yarded, the quality being again poor. The demand was only moderately active, prices being much about the same as last week. Best bullocks brought £7 10s to £9 7s fid, medium to good £6 to £7 ss, light weight £4 15a to £5 17s fid, best cows £6 10s to £7 7s fid, medium to good £4 5s to £6 7s fid, light and aged £2 17s fid to £4. Sheep—2B47 penned, of which 520 were merinos. Best crossbred wethers brought 15s to 17s fid, inferior to medium and good 12s to 14s 9d, best do ewes 14s fid to 16s 9d, inferior and medium 9s fid to 13s fid, merino wethers 7s fid to 9s. MONETARY AND COMMERCIAL. London, May 22. The English wheat market has a weak tone and the Continental is steady. The American market is advancing, and shows increased firmness. A cargo of Australian wheat, off coast, sold for 31s fid. New Zealand rabbit skins, medium to fair, Is 8d; fair to good, Is fid. The recent rains have improved the prospects of the crops in England. Russian crop reports are very favorable. Ottawa, May 22. The Treasurer of Quebec has failed to arrange a loan of £2,000,000 in London, owing to the already heavy debt of the province.
