London, May 22. The strikers at Hull in defiance of the terms of settlement, are molesting nouUnionists, and the troops have had to be retained in the town. In opening an institute at Hawarden, Mr Gladstone spoke in praise of the ability and integrity displayed by the labour represesentatives in the House of Commons. He said that their success as legislators exceeded the highest hopes. Brussels, May 23. The International Miners’ Conference has opened. Delegates representing 1,100,000 miners are present. A motion in favour of the legislative enactment of the eight hours’ principle was discussed to-day, and will be renewed to-morrow. The Northumberland delegates spoke against the resolution.
