SOCIAL AT HILTON.
A social was held in the Hilton school on Friday evening for the purpose of wishing Mr and Mrs G. Steven good-bye. There was a very large attendance, and an excellent supper was provided by ladies of the district, to which all did ample justice. Mr R. Skinner, chairman of the school committee, referred to the cordial relations that had always existed between the school committee and the master, and expressed the hope that Mr Steven would be as succssful in the Winchester school as he had been in Hilton, Mr J. Kelland spoke of Mr Steven as a model teacher, who was beloved by every pupil in the school. Mr A. Archibald, member of the school committee thanked Mr Steven for the active interest he had taken in every movement, social and religious, for the good of the district. In his reply Mr Steven thanked those present, old and young, for their attendance and for all the kind and flattering remarks made about Mrs Steven and himself.
The young people then enjoyed a few hours dancing and the social broke up.
