GERALDINE JUVENILE TEMPLE.

There was a fair attendance at the miscellaneous ei: tertaiument given on Monday evening by members of the Geraldine Juvenile Lodge of Good Templars. The children taking part were seated on the platform, and in the singing were ably led by Mr E. Robson. Miss Andrews accompanied on the piano. The Rev. W. Woollass took the chair, and said he was glad to see the great interest taken in temperance by the young people of Geraldine, and he hoped it would continue. He made special mention of the energy displayed by Mr Robson in training the children for singing in the service of song. Robert Scroggie recited “ Poor Joe,” and Annie Bowkett sang “ Beautiful Home.” “ The Boys’ Army ” was recited by Fred. Wallach, and Mr F. Robson, of Christchurch, contributed a song. Recitations were given by Miss Bowkett (“ Little Dick ”) and W. Fyfe (“ The two glasses.”) Maggie Morrison’s song, “ On the green shore,” was well well received, and loudly applauded. Maggie Findlayson gave a recitation, “Not dead, but drunk,” and Mr W. E. Robson sang, expressively, “ A Boy’s best friend is his Mother.” Katie McCaskey closed the first part of the programme with a recication “ Father has signed the Pledge.” A service of song entitled “ Reclaimed ” took up the next part of the programme. The connective readings received full justice at the hands of Mrs Logan, and the children, under the leadership of Mr E. Robson acquitted themselves exceedingly well. Some of the pieces rendered were “ Blessed,” “ Turn Away,” “ Temperance,” “ Anger,” “ Sighing for Thee ” “ Looking for Jesus,” “ Chiming Sabbath Bells,” “ Welcome Wanderer,” “Himthat Receiveth.” Mr J. M. Sutherland,, President of the

Juvenile Templars, gave a resume of the progress of the Lodge during the year, and said they had increased in membership by five, and hoped to make further progress next year. The proceeds of the entertainment would be devoted to the children’s picnic on November 9th. He proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Robson, Miss Andrews, Mrs Logan, and the Rev. Mr Woollass, for their help in the entertainment. This was seconded by Mr Hammond, and the Good Templars’ closing ode concluded the entertainment.
