MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the board was held in the road board office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 18th inst. The members present were Messrs R. Mackay, C. G. Tripp, G. J. Dennistoun, and R. Thew. The following correspondence was read and dealt with : From the Commissioner of Crown Lands, informing the Board that the. proposals submitted for the expenditure of money accruing from lands let on perpetual lease had been approved of by the Land Board, and would be paid over to the board’s credit for expenditure on the roads benefitting the sections furnishing the funds. The clerk was instructed to submit further proposals for work to be done on roads leading to sections 35933, 35943, and 36159. - From the clerk Mount Somers Road Board, enquiring whether the board let out their stone-breaking machine, and upon what terms; also cost per yard for breaking metal. —The clerk to reply that the machine has been sold to Mr S. P. Andrews, of Christchurch. From the Levels Road Board, agreeing to the board’s terms for the exchange and future maintenance of the short length of road on the Raincliff side of the Opihi river.—The clerk was instructed to have the necessary surveys made, and upon obtaining the consent of the owners of the land to the exchange, to proceed with the formation of the road. From the clerk Timaru Borough Council, inquiring whether the board had. any ironbark piles for sale, and cost of same. — The board will supply the piles delivered at Rangitata Station at Timaru prices. From Mr T. Blair, consenting to his name being placed on the rate roll for sections 17259, 25566, etc. The clerk was instructed to have the bridle tracks up the Orari repaired. Accounts amounting to £B6 7s 4d were passed for payment, and the board adjourned.
