GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above was held on Tuesday evening last. Present:—Messrs A White (chairman), Maslin, Dunlop, Hammond, A. Sherratt, Mundell, and Williams. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows.'— From Auditor- General re the embezzlement of certain moneys from the Local Bodies, and- asking the'board to use constant, vigilance to' prevent any de-falcations.—-Received. From Mr A. B. G. Rhodes stating that he was sending a copy of. the Local Bodies Accounts and Audit Bill, and would be glad to receive any suggestions.—^Received. From Bank of New Zealand, showing the fixed deposit receipts as follows: — No. 257816 £l5O, due 13th January 1892 ; No. 257770 £3OO, due 10th June 1892. Received. From Mr C. E. Sherratt, stating that he had transferred all his interest in No. 9 lot on the Geraldine Downs to Mr John Farrell, and asking the board to concur with same.-^-Granted. From Mr L. Leech, asking to have the name of Mrs Agnes B. Auckens, substituted for his on the rate roll for section No. 45, Geraldine.—Granted. From the chairman cf the Geraldine School Committee, asking to have gorse and scrub cleared and crab holes filled in on the east side, of the school ground. The bridge by Mr M; Connolly's stables was very uusafe for children to cross and that route was greatly used by them.— Resolved that seeing the Board has made ample provision in Wilson Street for the children to get to the school they cannot entertain the proposal. From Mr Robt. stating that the escape of water from the race on his reserve had now become so great that he would very soon be unable to get to his property.—Water race to be attended to as soon as new pipes are obtained. From South British Insurance Coy., applying for renewal , of insurance policy. —Granted. overseer's report. The overseer's report on the work done and the poundkeeper's report on stray cattle, were adopted. FENCE OBSTRUCTION. The question of fences obstructing certain roads was brought up, and the chairman said several offenders 1 in this respect had been written to, but they had not taken any notice. It was resolved that the clerk give notice to Messrs J. Pye and G. Ward that if their fences are not removed within three days they will be removed by the board's overseer-at their (the offenders') expense. PIPES. It was agreed to ; get 200 pipes from Miles-Archer and Co.; Timaru. APPLICATION. Mr Amos Sherratt applied for more water for his flaxmill. It was agreed that a 9 inch pipe be substituted for the 6-in one at the water race, to admit more water into Mr •Sherratt's stream. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £lB 13s lid were passed for payment. , Mr Williams moved, Mr Maslin seconded, and it was carried—" That a demand of £l2 be]made on the Domain Board." RENTS. Mr Maslin moved, Mr A, Sherratt seconded, and it was carried—''That where rents are more than one month overdue notice be given to the persons owing same, requesting them to pay at once." FIXED DFPOSIT. It was agreed to place £SO at fixed deposit for three months. The board then rose. GERALDINE DOMAIN BOARD. The monthly meeting of this board was , held on Tuesday evening last. Present— Messrs A. White (chairman), A. Sherratt, Maslin, Williams, Mundell, '. Dunlop,' and Hammond. REPORT. The overseer's report on bush work-was read, and it was agreed to pay bushmen working iu the bush 30s each on account. FINANCIAL. It was resolved that £l2 bo paid to the Geraldine Town Board. TOTARA STUMPS. It was agreed to pay 7s 6d on totara stumps. Thejboard then rose.
