ENGLISH MARKETS.
London, April 4. The total quantity of wool catalogued up to date is 29,200 bales, of which 27,800 were sold. The market continues firm, and opening prices are being maintained. Tallow, medium mutton, 203 6d; beef, 255. The English wheat market shows a general advance of one shilling. The Continental market also shows a general advance, while the American has an upward tendency. Australasian cargoes are firm at an advance. The arrivals of fereign wheat are small, A shipment off coast has not met with a ready sale. A New Zealand cargo of wheat per iron vessel shipped in March and April has been sold at 395. April 6.
The shipment of New Zealand apples per (he K.M.S. Tongaciro airived in splendid condition. They were put up to auction ai Covenfc Garden and brought £ om 15a to 20s per case (containing one bushel). The cargo of wheat per the ship Jessie Roadman, from Timarn (November 11th), has been sold at 40a IJd,
Wool is firm and there is good competiiun at the sales.
AUSTRALIAN MARKETS.
Melbourne, April 7
The wheat estimate published by Mr Hayter has disorganised the market, and there is a probability that millers will have to look to New Z aland aod California for supplies, as the surplus has either been exported or contracted for.
