The annual meeting of the Waimate Racing Club was held on St. Patrick’s Day, and was well attended. Brown, the rider of Ben, had the bad luck to break his right stirrup leather at a momentous period, and could not, of course, ride to a finish, the accident perhaps robbing Ben of the win.
