The annual meeting of the Waimate Racing Club was held on St. Patrick’s Day, and was well attended. Handicap Time Trot, of 20 sov., second 2 sovs; miles Mr T. Rollinson’s Merry Girl, Msec, 1; Mr J. Bain’s War Cry, 55sec, 2 ; Mr P. Henley’s Semolina, scr, 3. Totalisator, £212; dividend, £5 14s. Harvest Handicap, of 30 soys, second 2 sovs ; 1 mile—Messrs M. and C. Hobbs’ Lady Zetland, 7st, 1; Mr J. Dooley’s Miss George, 9st 61b, 2; Mr J. Curran’s Enfield, Bst, 3. Totalisator, £231; dividend, £llßs. Two-Mile Trot, of 12 sovs, second 2 sovs—Mr Jackson’s Lucy, 42sec, 1; Mr Bain’s War Cry, 49sec, 2; Mr Gunn’s Sefton, 46sec, 3. Totalisator, £151; dividend, £2 Is. Ladies’ Purse, of 20 sovs ; 1 mile— Mr James A. Oracle’s ihe Conspirator, 9st, 1 j Mr Daly’s Ben, 9st 71b, 2; Mr E. T. Rhodes’ Tiger Lily, Bst, 3. Brown, the rider of Ben, had the bad luck to break his right stirrup leather at a momentous period, and could not, of course, ride to a finish, the accident perhaps robbing Ben of the win.
