GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this board was held on Tuesday evening last. Present—Messrs A. White (chairman), J. Williams, A. Sherratt, N. Dunlop, and J. Mnndell. STTEBENDEBED LEASE. Mr W King handed in the surrendered lease of blocks 4,5, 6, and 7.—The clerk was instructed to obtain Mr King's signature to the surrender and attest the same. COEBESIOJTDENOE. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows: Prom Mr Qt. Allington, asking for more water to be supplied to his flax mill, as he found he had not sufficient to work the mill. He offered to pay a reasonable price for the extra water. —lt was decided to grant the request. Prom Mr G. Ward, asking for the name of Janet Ward to be placed upon the rate roll in lieu of his for section N 0.9, dine,—Application to stand over.
The ranger's report for the month giving the list of persons whose stock were found wandering. during the month, and the number of times in each instance, was read. From Messrs Smithson, Haympnd, and Smith, the board's sjlicitors, giying an opinion as to the bull being kept in the park by Mr Pearpoint. The firm were of opinion that the board had a clear case againat Mr Pearpoint.—lt was decided to notify Mr Pearpoint that if he would abate the nuisance and prevent its recurrence the board would take no further steps in the matter, The offer to be made without prejudice to further proceedings, and his 7Z? ]v t 0 to * D writing. The' "overseer's' report was read. With regard to the water 1 race the works committee were instructed to inspect the leaks mentioned, with power to take such steps ao they considered necessary to conserve thf water.
Mr N. Dnnlop applied on behalf of the Presbyterian Church, to purchase six 9in pipes.—Granted at the usual price. The chairman stated that three tenders had been received for the handrail to the bridge, and that of Mr T. Scott's at 18s 6d accepted —The chairman's action was approved of. DEFAULTING BATEPAYEBS. The clerk said the ratepayers drawn at the last meeting to be summoned, had all paid before the summonses were issued. There were still some fifty-one defaulters. —It was decided as a last chance to send each defaulter a poßt card, and to summons at once all who had not paid up within a week of the notice. TJNBEGISTEBED . DOGS. The list of dogs registered for 1890 and that for 1891 were laid upon' the table. —The clerk was instructed to hand the same to the police with instructions to take action at once. TENDEBB FOB FIBEWOOD. Three tenders were received for the firewood at the board's yards as as follows:—T. Maloney 10s, T. Herlihy 10s, H. K Hiskens li2s 6d (accepted). TEKDEBS EOEE ESEH.VEB. Tenders for reserves No.'s 4,5, 6, and 7, containing 16 acres 2 roods 18 perches, were opened and dealt with as follows:—J. Farrell, £l3 per annum (accepted); C. E. Sherratt, £l2 8s; G. Ward, £5 12s 6d; W. S. Maslin, 128 9d per acre; R. Hammond, 12s ; J. Dean, 10s. AOOOUNTB. Accounts amounting to £l7 8s 7d were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated.
